Curves, Wedges and Wonky Log Cabins with the Royal City Quilters' Guild in Guelph

Back to my beginnings! I taught this weekend in the same room that I took my first guild class, back in the mid-90's! Some of my students were there that day too.  It was a mini hand sewing workshop with Pat Menary, Grandmother's Fan, and the finished quilt was about 5" square.
Many thanks to the RCQG for hosting this event. This is a fantastic guild, still going strong and always ready to try something new. We had an absolutely wonderful day together. Their results are amazing and speak for themselves.
To all quilters reading this, take a look and see how freeing and fun this unstructured, unpredictable and organic way of creating art quilts is. Everyone who is interested in contemporary textile art and quilt making needs to have these skills! I am teaching this again for a week at the Haliburton School of the Arts in July 2015. Check it out!

Happy 2015! I dive headfirst into the OCEANS OF POSSIBILITIES!

It was a terrific holiday with family and friends. We loved hanging out with the kids and all our friends and families. Ate too much of course, but seriously, who can resist turkey, stuffing and gravy? Love that I can prepare it all gluten free now. Cooked dinner for 60, decorated, sat around reading by the fire, unwrapped, got spoiled, slept in, toured around, had a blast. I made some art for gifts, and have included details or the whole piece. I played with photo apps and got some nice images. I saw the amazing Alex Colville show at the AGO, I undecorated....
And now here we are, back to "work". Have some fun lectures and teaching ahead, we'll likely travel to some place warm, but winter is my time to hunker down in the studio and create. How lucky am I? So, I am about to submerge myself in the OCEANS OF POSSIBILITIES in my stash. Woohoo! Happy creating to you all. See you on the far shore.
Cheers, Maggie

Happy Holidays from Connections!

Here we are at my house for our December meeting. We dined very well, as our potluck meals are always superb, we exchanged treasures from our studios and we had lots of time for a relaxed visit. I am very grateful for these wonderful, talented friends. They inspire and support me on the textile art journey we are all on. Next month at Sybil's is a play day. Yahoo!
